Our next free Come and Try Event is on February 21, 2026.
What will we be doing?
We will learn some of the famous ceilidh dances of Scotland and branch out into some easy set dances, the heart and soul of SCD.
We will be dancing ceilidh style, which means walking – no fancy steps.
It’s in North Balwyn, at the Greythorn Community Hub, just behind Doncaster Rd and the Greythorn Shopping Centre.
Ticketing is via Trentwood at the Hub. Tickets for the TryItOut event are free.
SCD is for fun. It is very sociable. It’s not a performance style of dance. We have to learn lots of new things and it gets brains and bodies moving.
This is not Highland Dance. No swords, no bagpipes and no Highland Fling. It is for all age groups but a reasonable level of fitness is required.
The essentials for Feb 21, 2026
Time 2 pm start but we usually arrive 15-20 minutes earlier to change shoes/wash hands and join in the walk around the hall to loosen up. Music on from 1.50 pm. Duration 90 minutes.

Our first New Dancers Intro Course for 2026!
6 weeks, $100.
With teacher, Julie, we will cover the basics, dance lots of enjoyable, easy dances and generally have a good time. We like to enjoy our dancing at scdVic After the course, you will be ready to join a weekly group and just possibly be as obsessed with SCD as we are.
